Nyang-nyang, a "private" beach?

Here are some views of the beach:

It seemed to have beautiful sunset. Unfortunately we had to go before it got dark on our way back home

Nyang-nyang, what a “unique” name. I have lived in Bali for about 15 months now and yet I’ve never heard of this beach before. It’s located at South Bali just about 2 or 3 km from Uluwatu temple. Visiting a new place is always exciting for me, that’s why I agreed immediately to go there with my colleagues.

I had been warned that the path to the beach after leaving the main road would be challenging and it really was. For about 5 minutes or so we passed through a rocky path that it felt like we were going to the top of a hill. Soon after that we could see the beach.

From the top to the beach we have to go trough a long stairs

the stair

Not streching our legs before going down the stairs, some of us had our legs shaken that we had to take a rest for while. There was a debate among my friends, over how many steps did the stair have? The answer was vary from 527 to 530 steps. However,  on our way back climbing the stair later, no one seems to bother confirming it :-) .

Sure, it was exhausting but compensated  by the view of the beach.  You could immediately see the difference with the regular beach like Kuta, the wide area of white sand, coral reefs along the beach, and there were nobody there but us.

Rumor has it, the beach is a “secret paradise” for surfer,  hmm yeah  I could tell from the high waves.  It could be a great place  for pro surfers.  However, having go trough the stair bringing a surfboard along,  with that high wave and coral reefs,  I was not surprised to find there were were nobody surfing there or perhaps was it  not a good time for surfing? Hmm, I don’t really know.

Anyway what I love the most was taking close up pictures of the plants and small animals.  I can’t wait for the next spot :)

A tiny fish. This one is my favorite picture. Unfortunately I don't its name

Dont know what it is called in English :p

    there is a hidden beach..there? really? :( I was too busy getting close up picture that I lost track of time. Hmm will do on my next visit, but not anytime soon I’m afraid. I still feel pain on my legs especially while climbing or going down a stair.

    do you know how to get there? by car?
    is it near with padang – padang beach?

  8. santus says:

    @hime
    Yes, I believe it’s near from padang-padang since both of the beaches are in Uluwatu. It should be only several kilometers from there. Perhaps you can ask the local people for the exact direction. You can go there by car or motorcycle, park at the hotel (usually only allowed for the hotel’s guest) otherwise using motorcycle you can go through the rocky path beside the hotel as I did. And then you have to walk down the stairs as described in this post. From the back of the hotel you can go directly to the stairs avoiding the rocky path. Have fun!
